Performing Charpy V-Notch Test
This impact test uses a pendulum head dropped from a certain height onto a notched specimen to break it. The impact energy suggests the material's toughness and helps calculate the material's strength properties.
Performing Izod Impact Test
The Izod impact test involves fixing one end of a standard notched material specimen in a cantilever position using a vice. A hammer connected to a raised pendulum then strikes the sample. The energy absorbed by the notched specimen during fracture is known as the breaking energy. The breaking energy helps calculate the material's impact resistance and strength characteristics.
